My fiance is 5'7" and weighs 145 lbs. and is very unhappy with her weight despite me constantly telling her her weight is normal. The past few weeks she tells me she is going to take a bath at night after dinner but I am starting to really suspect she's making herself sick. Her eyes are puffy when she comes out, she can't keep her balance and has broken blood vessels around her eyes that have been there since this started, but she denies that anything is wrong. Has anyone else been through this with someone and am I probably right that she's making herself sick? It scares me to think of her doing this to herself, if she is, and I don't know what to do to stop it. Thanks in advance...

There is nothing that you can say or do to make her believe that she is normal. It definitely sounds like she is making herself sick and if she is, the only way you can help her is to get help from some kind of professional. Eating disorders are a psychological disease and you can't simply reason them away.

Hope this helps.

Support and encourage her, she'll have to see for herself that she is ill, which most anorexics have a very difficult time with. You are probably right, unless she is in there crying her eyes out over something more than her weight.

sounds to me like your suspicions are valid. look into it more, you could listen at the bathroom door for vomiting, or ask if you can join her for her "bath"
