Various ways. The Bible is just superstition from long ago. However, it still tells us a lot about the culture and thinking of that time. And there are other types of documentation beside religious superstition. In addition, we have the buildings and tools of various ages. That tells us more about how people lived and where they migrated.

The Bible's teachings on matters of ethics, setting aside such silliness as what sort of hat to wear and why women should have their own tents during menstuation, are largely derived from eons of social observation and conditioning. Long before there was a Torah, or a Bible, people were aware that it was not a good idea to kill your neighbor, or steal his property and all that sort of thing.

It's common sense.

I think what atheists object to is the notion that this particular book is enshrined as the "Word of God," when it is derivative of all that went before it.

Easily. No one in this world can walk on water, but one person did. No one in the world can drive a stick into the ground, but one person did. First, god was on a mountain, then on clouds, now invisible.

I'm failling to see a logical story here. I trust evolution over creation because at least there are thousands of books that people are free to read, not one book everyone MUST read.

If any of that happened, then I live the daily life of Peter Griffin.

There is documented history before the bible. I don't refute that the bible is sort of documented history. I think it's too far fetched to be fact, but they sure do tell some interesting stories.

Not just that, but go to your Natural History Museum and there is evidence of history before the bible was written.

Yeah, your theory doesn't make much sense.

Many scientists got down to discover evidance that God doesnt exist, and land up with extra evidance that that's no longer all be risk then ever. some even exchange thier minds. Others prefer to conceal that up besides. interior the top its all on faith, and faith is purely that. Its faith. Historians have a number of proofs that they use to determine the veracity of any event. Corroborating evidence must be strong enough to consider an event to have occurred. Archaeological evidence is of course considered in the evaluation. There is no historical evidence for proof of any divinity including a half man-half God. You can look up historicity in any encyclopedia and research the historicity of any event for that matter.

um, well we don't follow some myth written down by fallible men, instead we use evidence and science, deduction and logic. and neither gives us an absolute "truth" as to what REALLY happened. but science and logic point in the same general direction. there are laws to nature-- like gravity, relativity, etc. that can be figured out mathematically.

I notice that the more religous someone is the less they know about science.

I understand that things like relativity, doppler shift, and radioactive decay are more complicated ideas to understand than a magical man in the sky waving his hand, but you would at least give it a try..

A very good question indeed. But I simply don't understand why we're so bothered about history so much. All we need is the simple trust and undying love to correct the future to make this world a worthy place to live in.Come on guys lets put aside our differences and work towards it.

The Lord of the Rings was written only about 60 years ago, so I believe it's true.
