It's time for our daughter to move into a "big girl" bed. My parents bought a "convertible" crib for our daughter as a shower present. Now that it's time to move her we looked at the instructions and it become a daybed or a headboard for a twin. We put it together like a daybed but from the top of the mattress to the floor it's about a foot and a half. It seems too high to me and I think we should get a youth/toddler bed but my husband thinks it's okay since she doesn't roll around much. Am I just being too paranoid? Does anyone else have any ideas from when they took their children out of the crib? Thank you for any advice but please keep negative and spiteful comments to yourself. This is our first child and we're trying our best but we have varying opinions on parenting.

I never used the cribs for anything other than cribs. My son is about to go into a toddler bed. I plan on buying a toddler bed instead of using the crib for the same reason you are concerned. Plus its easier for them to get in and out of.

my daughter has been in a regular full size bed since she was 2 and a half. we got her a bed set and its off the floor by a lot more than that, and she's never fallen out. also we put it up against the wall and she sleeps on the side closest to the wall. and she's able to climb up into it just fine. you might want to try the bed you have before you go spending money on a new bed, and then if you really feel you need to, you can buy a new bed.

I took the front rail off of my daughters crib for the first few weeks. Just to get her used to the "open" feeling. After that I changed the crib into the twin bed. I used inexpensive bed rails after that. In fact she's 9 and still uses one because she rolls around so much when she sleeps.

Just get her a rail to stop her from falling and lay a few pillows along side to help you feel better. Unless it where to scare her there's no big danger, at that age they still bounce. Good luck

There's a good chance she'll be climbing out on her own to play anyhow. Make sure any furniture is tip-proof. And she'll adjust easier to small changes than to an all new, possibly scary, bed. Good luck again

I would recommend putting a small air mattress right next to her bed, so that if she does roll off she won't get hurt.

if you are afraid that she'll fall off, get a portable bed rail. They sell for about $25 at Target, Wal-Mart, etc.
