That may sound strange to some, but when I listen to his music it is a spiritual experience for me. He sings of love, forgiveness, hope, etc. It's beautiful and pure...it truly is.

And, no I'm not high...I'll go ahead and clear that up for those who will say I am.

Very cute question. I love Bob Marley to death. But he was no prophet. He was a true rastafarian. That is not just some jamaican with dreds that smoke weed. It is a true religion. One of the truest to my belief. In thier religion, they follow Rastafari defined as prince tafari. Haile Selassie. He is believed to be the true messiah and true decendant of solomon(pbuh). The reason he is so strong to most, is because his religion is no joke. But to answer your question, NO, he is not a prophet. But a true Rasta who has jah running through his being. Check out the link. PEACE!

I was interested by your question. I did some research to come up with an answer. Answers.com explains that Bob Marley wrote many songs. Some spoke of spirituality in Jamaica and the Rastafarian religion. This religion he represented as a major proponent. The mystical beliefs of this religion gave hope to many ghetto folk in Jamaica. The biography of Bob Marley as a pop artist says that in Jamaica he became revered as a religious prophet and then internationally. In 1965 he recorded "One Love," a song teaching Rastafarianism. This song calls for peace, unity and love. His dreadlocks are very recognizable.

I know what you mean.....I don't feel that way when i listen to Marley, but there are musicans I do feel that way about. Notably Frank Black, Dylan, and Zevon. I definitely feel more spiritual when listening to music....or having sex...or preferably both. I never have any spiriual feelings at any other time.

I know I'll get nailed for this one, but I personally think it's more like "profit". Yes, I know he didn't have an idylic life, but he made his choices and many of his problems were self-inflicted.

I highly doubt it.

His songs had nice feel-good subject matter, that's all.
