Were every single one of the Ev1's destroyed? If not, how many were not destroyed, and what happened to these "saved" ones?

I don't have numbers, but in its great wisdom(?), GM disabled and gutted some EV1's and then gave them to universities. Most of the drive systems were removed, and clearly GM never wanted the vehicles to be driven again. A student team at the University of Wisconsin rebuilt their EV1 with a mix of parts including an original motor. Read the story on page two of my source.

Held back for research, no doubt. General Motors is reusing much of the EV1 technology in their hybrid and fuel-cell projects.

Smithsonian has one, I heard it's not on display right now. I think the Henry Ford Museum has one too. Hard to track them down. Most were crushed.
