Even though you did not bleed if the skin was torn it could be worse because when you get cut on some thing that is not clean the act of bleeding will help clean out the cut.

Even if the dog has all of it's shots and does not have rabies. You can run into problems. A dog's mouth is very dirty and full of germs.

If you notice that the area is getting red and inflamed and painful get to the emergency room as fast as you can. Some dog's will have the "flesh eating disease" in there mouth and for some reason they do not get sick from it apparently there body protects them from it.

So clean it very good and use rubbing alcohol and do not cover it up and check on it regularly and if it is getting red go to the er.

This disease moves quickly so if you are not showing signs in 24 hours you will be OK

But there are other infections that you can get and in some cases it is worse if ther skin is broken but you do not bleed.

If the skin is torn then there is an opening an there is a possibility of dog saliva getting into the capillaries of you blood stream. You should file a police report so that they can have the dog quarantined...if it hasn't had it's rabies shots you need to follow up with a doc for the shots yourself....the only test to prove you or the dog has rabies is after you die from it...they cut your head open and examine the brain....they would do the same thing for the dog. So you need to find out the status of the dog and quarantine it for 2 weeks. If it shows symptoms then you'll need shots for sure. As long as it had it's early rabies vaccine your safe.

If you know who the dog belongs too, contact the owner to make sure the dog is up to date on it's shots. If it were me, I probably would just wash off the wound and use peroxide to clean it since it wasn't a deep puncture.

Naa....I'd just clean it with antibacterial soap, and put an antiseptic on it. Only call if you feel the situation warrents a phone call on the dog. Dogs are dogs.

Yes, dogs are dogs, and people on yahoo were blaming my friend who had kicked a dog agressing her , so that not to get bitten. Some people said: "Poor dog!!!, he is getting kicked, before biting. So, my friend had to wait to be bitten, and not kick it.
She was saved by kicking it.
Dogs are a real nuisance for me. I have been aggressed two times last year. There are still owners who can't manage their dogs. They should be deprived of their right to have a dog.

Yes, and have animal control pick up the dog to test for rabies.
