You'll probably get some more educated answers if you ask this in the biology section. With religion and spirtuality you get a lot more answers but they are lower quality. Anyway, we aren't autotrophic for the same reason that we don't use solar power to run big cities like New York. Its just a lot more efficient to use other forms of energy. In our case, its better to eat an autotrophic life form and use the chemical energy that it has stored up. Look at some examples of autotrophic life forms. They are almost always sedentary with slow metabolisms. Autotrophism just wouldn't work too well for an intelligent life form with huge energy requirments.

Autotrophic - Is that where humans become automatic trophies?

One day the Christian will be perfected. God promised He would do it before He takes us to heaven.

In evolution does everything keep getting better and better until we are perfected?

Stupid answers all the way through. Yeah evolution is the biggest joke of all time. The only evolution that occurs is simply small changes within the bounds of the same specie. An example of this is a black man which is a result of thousands of years of being in the sun.

Yeah you would think if we all came from the same cell, we would still have properties of other living organism, even plants. What did the cactus evolve from lol? Or trees for that matter.

All we have is us and the monkey. No fossils, even though they claim we were here for billions of years, which should result in trillions of fossils everwhere. Also what came before the monkey and before that. But you already know this, this is for the people that believe we are a result of such things.

Simply because we don't need to be. Typically only lower life forms have those nominal energy requirements. We could not function with only, say sunlight, to exist. We typically eat the the animals that eat the animals that are autotrophic.

Autotrophism predates heterotrophism, therefore you could make the argument that being a heterotroph is an improvement, thus proving evolution!

Where aren't all the other mammals?

really dumb question by the way.......

how about, 'if the bronze age men who wrote the book on the beginning of all time were right, why is anything autotrophic"?

Because we evolved along a line that consumed autotrophic organisms rather than setting down roots and nourishing ourself via photosynthesis. Life separated into animals and plants millions of years ago, and we evolved from the animals.

Explain why they would be. Your question does not make sense.

Autotrophs require huge flat leaves and a lot of surface area for their mass. You could never get enough energy from the sun in order to move around and flex muscles.

evolution is just a theory not yet a fact :) now.. don't argue about it.. it's just a theory.. haha

personally I believe in that theory and autotrophic? we evolve because our body mass and metabolism are getting bigger and autorophic state is not sufficient for our survival :p
