Every day. I can honestly say they are the nicest people, the kindest people, the most open people i have ever met and that's why i choose to learn more about Islam and when i learned more i understood. I reverted to Islam over 2 years ago now and thank God i was shown the true path. I met some lovely people at the markets in Tunisia one gentleman went out of his way to find an item me and my husband where looking for, he offered tea to us and gave us a really good deal. There are good and bad in everyone and i would not suggest for one second all Muslims are perfect either in there faith or life we are only human after all. But it is the whole attitude when you are in a Muslim country that is so liberating, I have not felt free like that since i was a child.

I've studied Islam for many years and studied it from Islamic viewpoints... I've met many American Muslim reverts, and Middle Eastern Muslims... and MOST of them were EXTREMELY pleasant, intelligent, and nice to chat with, but then I was also respectful towards them. I didn't really meet anybody I didn't like, however there was a bit of general confusion when I was wearing the hijab... when I wanted to try niqab, many guys actually argued among themselves and some tried to encourage me to wear it and some tried to discourage (on the basis that it was "too extreme"). Naturally I understood both sides of the argument, as unsettling as it was, so it wasn't overwhelming. Islam is whatever the practitioner makes of it... if someone's altruistic and kind and seeks religion to teach them how to be such, then that's the way they are (which was apparently MOST of the men and women I encountered), if someone's going to look for a reason to spew their hatred religion is but ONE of the many TOOLS they're going to emply, and Islam gets their fair share of unkind people who use Islam to spew hatred, not much different from various fundamentalist Christians.
All in all, in summary, I have nothing but warm memories of my encounters with Muslims and Muslimahs.

I have had the privelage of knowing several muslims. I really like them personally. I admire their devotion to their religion. My girlfriend had a muslim roomate that would get up every morning at 4 am to pray. She was a really sweet girl. I answered their phone once and it turned out to be her mother. Her mom was upset that they had a boy in their apartment. :D I knew muslim guy who refused to drink alcohol. He still went out to the pub with us though. He was a pretty friendly character and was one heck of a good designated driver. I don't know a whole lot about Islam, but if the people I've met are typical followers of the religion, then I really respect that religion.

I've only really known one Muslim in my life so far, and he was my Algebra professor in college. Insanely smart, knew four languages, funny, got a kick out of it when some kids in class asked him if he "spoke Muslim".
He was from Algeria originally, and I never really did learn how to pronounce his last name. We all just called him Khaled. Just an all-around great guy, and cute too.
I know about Islam what I remember from reading the Koran about ten years ago (admittedly in English), and it was very enlightening. Every Christian who's ever bashed a Muslim ought to read it...but then again, maybe they ought to start out by reading their own holy book...
Concerning coolfairy's comment: Half-muslim??? What does that mean, exactly?

In Spain, I got to know several of them. We visited in a home of the mother of my son's class-mate. Very nice person.
Then I talked to some Muslims in the market place. I offered a gospel in Arabic to one, which could have been asking for hostility. But he reacted in a very friendly way.
I also met one who was hostile.
So I guess they are like anyone else> some are nice, friendly, some are hostile. Some have religious agendas, some have political agendas, some are as violent as the Protestants and Catholics in Ireland, you will find all sorts of varieties.
Islam respects Jesus and the prophets of the Bible, considering Jesus to be another prophet. They believe that Mohammed was the last prophet.
They also believe that the Bible as we have it has been changed (but haven't provided any evidence for that). If I have my facts correct, they invert our version of Ismael and Isaac, making Ismael out to be the child of the promise.
EDIT:
By the way, you should understand the context in which I offered a man a Gospel. I had a table in the market, with Bibles, New Testaments, booklets, gospels, and I happened to have a few Gospels in Arabic. So I handed him one (he had the booth next to me), asking him if it was written in the Arabic that everybody was speaking, or if there were any difference. (Like our King James English, for example!).
EDIT again:
I understand that once a Muslim has travelled to Mecca, he has the title of Haj - but I admit, I got that out of a novel, so it could be made up! LOL. However, travelling to Mecca is definitely a very important religious pilgrimage.

i have a cousin who is half muslim. she is a regular girl that lives in the usa and we get along fine. i see know difference in her and her dad as i do in anyone else of different cultures. she choses to respect her culture and i respect her for that. at a young age she has had to deal with a lot of nasty comments but you know what? all muslims are not bad as the same goes for every other religion. she just ignores rude comments and tells pple who claim to be white that they have a culture 2 and its probably not the nicest one out there. as for religion she choses to get up early in the morning and pray and to not eat pork. shes going to Mecca next year which is supposed to be a traditional pilgramige for muslims

Yes. Some of my business associates are Muslims. There are liberal and conservative Muslims. It is the latter you should avoid.
Have a nice day!

Yeah, I carpooled with a woman who was muslim and babysat her son. She was a *****, although I don't attribute that to her religion.
