The idea of using granulated sugar on your skin goes back to exfoliation...I wouldn't recommend putting it in lotion unless you were planning on washing it off (or using the sugared lotion in the shower). All the sugar does is exfoliate your skin; it's somewhat more mild than some alternatives out there. The downside is it's kind of sticky, so you definitely need to rinse.

If you're in the kitchen items to make beauty supplies realm, a mashed banana, oatmeal, and honey mask is nice. Or a mashed potato mask, as potato is filled with great enzymes for your skin.

I would assume that it acts like an exfoliater. It buffs away dead/dry skin to leave you feeling soft & smooth!
