I will be traveling soon and have a 24-hour layover in Seoul arriving in Incheon airport at 6:30pm and departing the next night 7:30pm. What area of the city/cities is the best to stay for one night? Hotel/restaurant recommendatons? Best way to hire a car and driver? What spectacular sites to see? Suggestions please. Thank you so much!

Overnight, your choices are more limited than daytime. I would suggest you hire a taxi (negotiate up front for the cost of whole period and he/she will go off the meter) and go up Namsan (South Mountain) and look out over the entire city and Han River. The view of Seoul's city lights is spectacular. You probably won't get to Seoul until after 8:30 PM or so, but there will still be restaurants open. There are several on the circular route up to the top of Namsan. If you plan to stay at a hotel, it depends upon your price range; for upscale near Namsan, I would suggest either the Hilton or the Grand Hyatt.

It's best to book your hotel in advance with a website with good customer service support like Cheaperthanhotels - Seoul. If you're arriving late, it's likely that you'll be in your hotel room by 8 to 8.30 pm if you stay at the airport or 8.30 to 9.30 if you stay downtown.

My personal recommendation would be to stay at something like the Sofitel Ambassador Hotel which is 1.5 hours by bus from the airport in the centre of the city. There's good views from the rooms and it's central to roaming around and going to bars, shopping etc. It's well priced as well .... but there are plenty of alternatives.

The hotel can organise a driver for you and it's likely to be less hassle to do it that way.

The pictures on the website descriptions will give you a good idea. Unfortunately, 24-36 hours is not quite enough time to do all the things you might want.

I've given you a link to the National Tourism Site which is translated to English to give you some ideas - hope it helps.
