ok i love the book conversations with God
there is a section in it where God speaks about how we came to be here
it reads
" I find it amusing that you humans have such a need to break everything down into right and wrong , it never occurs to you that youve made these labels up to help define the material ... and your self
it never occurs to you ( except the finest minds ) that a thing could be both right and wrong "
i found this book to be a refreshing change , and it answered many things for me about religion , evolution etc
it just made sense for me
has anyone else read the book
thoughts please ?

Most people when it comes to God think of an old man with a flowing beard sitting in Heaven judging people. And that is where all the problems arise. When people read the Bible they decide that the 6 days of creation are the 6 24 hour periods. And God stood with a wand in his hand and created everything. No argument beyond it. And then another group says it is all rubbish and universe is a product of the Big Bang which occured around 4 billion years ago and everything after that evolved as we see it today. They are convinced. So, as you said people need these lables to please their egos. Hardly anyone actually goes looking for answers honestly with an open mind without preconceived ideas.
The bible is a book which provides immense wisdom but it can be read in a way that it seems that it is childish and contains fables which are no longer relevant today. Many people that I know personally tell me that how can you read something that was written more than 2000 years ago. They want to reject something because it is old, just as one changes an old car or washing machine. Wisdom is timeless. One has to read between the lines!!

This God who is speaking is not God. It is the author mentally masturbating, and earning money at the same time. Who do people even read more than a paragraph of such drivel?

Hi Pangel,
Yes, I've read it. Made sense.

One of my favourite spiritual pieces comes from Rumi.
"Out beyond the ideas of right and wrong,
There is a field.
I'll meet you there."

Have you ever read Ken Wilber?
He discusses this concept of things being above right and wrong very intelligently and with deep spiritual wisdom.
I would reccommend 'Grace and Grit', 'One Taste' and , intellectually more challenging - at least, I found it so, you may well be brighter than me - 'Eye of the Spirit'.

Yes, exactly. Who was conversing with God. It's a work of fiction.

Sorry, not being a cow - but that's what occurs to me.

I have not read the book but it sounds interesting. Me personally, I like to believe that God created evolution. I'm probably both right & wrong. ;-)
