When I read this poem I cried like a baby, but it is such an inspirational poem that I had to share it.

Heaven’s Doggie Door

My best friend closed his eyes last night
As his head was in my hand
The doctors said he was in pain
And it was hard for him to stand
The thoughts that scurried through my head
As I cradled him in my arms
Were of his younger puppy years
And OH his many charms

Today there was no gentle nudge
With an intense “I love you” gaze
Only a heart that’s filled with tears
Remembering our joy filled days
But an Angel just appeared to me
And he said “You should cry no more
God also loves our canine friends
He installed a doggie door"

What a true poem. I didn't cry, but it did bring tears to my eyes.

Why wouldn't anyone believe that dogs couldn't go to heaven if people can? I haven't met a dog that wouldn't deserve it more than any person I know. Dogs are the most loyal, loving, forgiving, and trusting living things I know of. They could get beaten within inches of their life by some low-life owner, but they'll still love the scumbag, regardless.

If dogs can't get into heaven, let's face it, there's not much hope for the rest of us!

Oh, and if I do go to heaven and my dogs aren't there, I'll start a petition to God. You all are welcome to sign it.

What the he*l does this have to do with Christian Beliefs? It's a POEM! This person did not ask for your advice about the "Christian Beliefs" on pets, the person asked what you THOUGHT of the poem. I'm also guessing you, Raven have never heard of Freedom of Religion.

I felt really sad, because I know what it feels like, but no I didn't cry. I agree with the last person about Bo. I love that poem!

Thank you for sharing. I can hardly see what I am typing through my tears. It is beautiful. I pictured my beloved, Shawnee, who was a 14 yo Bichon Frise. I held her when she "closed" her eyes for the last time. That was two years ago and I miss her still.

No... it doesnt make me cry, but it is a good poem. If you want a good weeper about dogs... listen to James Stewarts " Bo" on the Johnny Carson Dvd. It makes me cry everytime.

Close... I'm a fan of this one...
"He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion." - Unknown
(it doesn't make me cry, but it rings true in my life.)
