As everyone else is saying, you have TMJ. I've had it for the last 15 years. You need to go see your dentist so that he can refer you to a specialist. More than likely they will fit you with a mouth guard to wear when you're sleeping. They say it's caused from grinding your teeth at night, and the guard keeps you from doing this. I would avoid eating anything crunchy like nachos or chewing gum for long periods of time, this just aggravates the joint. There's also different exercises they had me do, which one was opening up your mouth as wide as you can, then closing slowly. It will get better, but it'll never go away completely. Good Luck!!

I've had it for years. It does it when I chew something, i.e eating dinner. If its painful you should go see a doctor. "TMJ / TMD, or temporomandibular joint disorder s a term used to describe a group of symptoms including headaches; facial pain; jaw pain; sore, chipped, broken, or worn teeth, clicking or popping in the jaw, and limited jaw movement. "

It can be caused bya displaced disc in the jaw and the bones and joints are rubbing together. Read a ton about it here:

It's TMJ I can't remember exactly what it stands for, but I had the same thing. But mine was a constant popping and sometimes it would get stuck and I couldn't open or close it. I eventually had to have surgery for mine. But if yours is only occasionally and it isn't bothersome you should be fine. However, I would mention it to your dentist next time you go gor your visit.

The popping sound is caused by a tendon sliding off a bone, like a rubberband sliding off the corner of a desk. This happens to a friend of mine, and my dog. It's no big deal.

Sounds like TMJ. I get it sometimes, and my mother has had it all her life. I never sought medical attention for mine as it's not that bad, it doesn't pop all the time, but you may want to seek med attention for your's.
Good luck.

its tmj temperal mandibular disorder. go to a specialist or ask your dr. before it gets to a point where it affects your mouth and life in a negative way. read up about it. the symptoms are horrible for some. just giving you heads up.usually depending on diagnosis specialist will make a mouthguard for you to wear for specified time. it helps.

Joint misalignment causes this popping. It can cause other problems. You might want to see your dentist or doctor for a checkup and evaluation.

I've got that too. It's called TMJ. I've had it for years, but it's never caused me any major problems. As long as it doesn't bother you too much you should be fine.
