We cannot just leave now because the country would go to hell (figuratively) and that would be on us. I'm a pretty conservative guy on this issue, and would like to see us leave Iraq, but do it in a smart way.

My idea is alot like the "troop surge" but I actually (no BS) came up with it long before Bush's idea. I said that we should give the militias a month to disarm, then have a massive crackdown after that, leaving military forces from the Iraq security forces in every area that was pacified.

Good Idea? Bad Idea? What's your strategy?

Good answers get thumbs up even if I don't agree with you. Idealistic crap gets thumbs down.

The real problem is that the same thing will happen there regardless of what exit strategy we choose. So what difference does it make.
The Iraqi people are going to ultimately do what the Iraqi people want to do, just like the Vietnamese people did.

there are both positive and negative ramifications with both options..there can't be any argument about that.

however, i don't believe that the troop surge is such a good idea..it's not like the insurgents are swarming the towns in the open..this is a different kind of war, a war that there is no way to win..i don't believe we can dig ourselves out of this hole without anything bad happening, i am someone that thinks we should cut our losses and get out before it's too late.

i don't think that "cracking down" on the militia, as you said, is going to do anything because it's hard to crack down on something you cant see until the last minute...now if we could somehow find out exactly where these people were meeting and planning i would think that this is a great idea that could actually work; until that day, i disagree.

Senator Joseph Biden has the best, only workable idea.

Devide the country into 3 states: the Kurds, the Shiites, the Sunnis.

The major problem is how to distribute the oil revenues, but I am sure the Dems can figure that out. The first thing to do id get rid of the Bush Administration and their greed for oil.

Actually, I think your idea is good. At least it's a viable strategy. I'm not convinced Iraq can ever be stabilized without splitting it into Sunni, Shiite and Kurd territories because of their religious disputes. However, I do not think it is our responsibility to settle the dispute over who is the legitimate heir to Mohammad, so I think the Iraqis need to work that out themselves.

Iraq should have been divided up into three different states for the three different factions. Now Iraq is in a civil war, so it is too late to do that or anything else. We need to pull out because we are nothing more than targets in a war zone.

There is no such thing as a "good" exit strategy. Whenever and however we leave it will be a messy situation. I say the sooner we leave the better. It will sting at first; like when you get a flu shot, but in the end we wll all feel better because of it.

No yet I certainly have an theory.provided that Iraq desires to have a ideal infrastructure earlier they are able to run their own usa, I recommend we deliver our site visitors wardens out to Iraq to grant parking tickets to any American Jeeps and Tanks illegally parked.this would develop plenty mandatory gross sales for the Iraq government and speed up the human beings go out out of Iraq

How about this for an exit strategy. Pull everybody out, nuke Iraq,Iran and a few other countries over there and let God sort them all out.

The people, who actually studies about ME, will think it is dilemma. That is why I will wait for the next administration to see what they got. I have no clue how we can get out now! I think we have to stay to help the Iraq government to be better! Then go home victoriously!

It is called "The French Salute." First you get a pole and a large white bed sheet. Tie the sheet to the pole then wave it vigously while wetting your pants. That's how to get out of Iraq.
