It depends on which culture you are referring to.
Traditional Native American
Black-hearing, harmony
Blue-intuition, teaching
Brown-knowing, self discipline
Gray--honoring, friendship
Green-will, living
Orange-learning, knowledge
Pink-creativity, working
Red-faith, communication
Rose-seeing, motivation
White-magnetism, sharing

it depends on the religion your talking about. i know in wicca you use different color candles for a different holiday (particularly All Hallows' Eve, or Halloween, if you will)

It means the dye they put in them are red, blue, green or yellow.
