Peas are most popular in France tinned and in a chicken veloute (white sauce made with stock) with finely shredded lettuce (just a little bit). It's known as petit pois francaise over here and is really quite nice, we have had it on the menu at restaurants I have worked at. I love fresh peas on their own but do like a change sometimes.

Absolutely not. Fresh garden peas should be boiled for 10 minutes, and served. Depending on the accompaniment, they may be boiled in lightly salted water, to which some fresh or dried chopped mint is added.

Garden peas should be eaten fresh straight from the pod.

But if this is difficult, try them with melted butter and chopped crispy bacon mixed in.

Or butter and mint

Most people like them buttered, but I like them as well cold with a cream salad dressing, or italian dressing
