The "regeaton" is very popular principal with the young people, with Daddy Yankee (dame mas Gasolina) and other exponents. I really don't like much this music but I respect what they are doing. I prefer Calle 13, in my opinion they are more creative and the music is very original but some songs can be offensive for some people.
In salsa Gilbertito Santarrosa win a Grammy two days ago. He continued the tradition of the good salseros of the 70s and 80s.
P. R. have excellent valadistas and "Spanish rock" stars, Ricky Martin perform this weekend in El "Choliseo" starting the tour "Black and White", I believe the new album is selling in the states. You can also check the music of Luis Fonsi, the husband of the actress Adamaris Lopez, and of course Chayane.
