The reason was a failed policy by the US government that dates back to WW2, each administration raised the stakes, first we fueled the French occupation, when they were sent packing we brilliantly followed their plan and got caught in the quagmire of our 'interests' being threatened. I believe that if Kennedy had lived he would have found a diplomatic solution. If you want to go back further, The British Empire was the first world power to bring war to Southeast Asia, and each world power has taken a turn, we are just the current version of the same ideology. When will they ever learn, and the only ones suffering are soldiers and their families, and civilians who will grow to hate us and continue the cycle of man's inhumanity to man. God forgive us,what would Jesus say.
