Do you use a Digital or Film camera?
Do you develope in a dark room by hand or with a scanner(if you use film)?
Black and White or Color?

and justify your answer.

I already have a preference, just curious what other people think.

Man, I cant believe there arent any purists out there...

No one is going to stick up for film?

I really see dark room printing as acousin of painting. No two prints are alike when you do it by hand. This whole digital revolution takes so much away from the skill and artistry it used to take to be a succesful photographer!

Im sorry I just had to speak my mind.

Well, I do both. I would have to say that while my preference is for digital nowadays, I also feel that any beginning photographer should start with film first, and learn how to properly process and print, first in B&W, and then after a couple of years, in color.
Only after understanding the fundamentals of chemical-based photography and photofinishing can one hope to become truly proficient with all that the digital realm has to offer.

i just switched over to digital...and it was an initial expense for the camera etc, but we already have the computers and programs (my wife is a graphic designer/illustrator) but already have saved a ton of money not buying film, and the developing process and supplies...and the convenience of being able to erase shots i don't like without the expenditure of film and developing to find out that i don't really like the shot and won't use it ever, saves a ton of space and money already and we haven't been digital for a year yet....i'm sold...yet there are some tricks i can do with film that i haven't figured out how to do digitaly, without photoshoping the shot, but then i guess that's what photoshop is for, hence the name "photoshop".
i do mostly colour, even with film...i can always scan into the computer and change it to b&w or sepia there.

Digital...
I don't need to develop.. just pull it into Photoshop.
I like Black and white better, more " earthy" but I use color most of the time.
I like the digital aspect of the camera because if It needs to be manipulated there is less deconstruction of the image when working on a computer, which the tool nowadays to do such work.

Digital takes no skill and artistry away from photography. All the same skills are needed, it's just something that is more accessible now than film.

That is one of the most ignorant statements I've heard in a long time.

I used to do the film thing. But now I do the digital thing.Plus I have a computer so its easy.I like the thought of no wasted film.If I take a pic and it doesn't turn out I can delete it.Put it on computer and then cd or picture paper.

Digital.
No need to develop unwanted photos.
Both B&W and Color depending on the subject.
