Twistedloves ^^ is right, you're either really vane or just plain stupid if you like someone but you believe yourself you're out've their league! You shouldn't like someone for their social status, popularity or what other people (Your friends) think of him, and might think of you if you like him! Popularity isnt everything.
If you like him, mention to your friends this guy, talk about him and see what they say, if they laugh, tease, or you dont like their response towards him, dont date him then, if you dont wanna fall down a social-status within your friends. You should really look past that crap and do what you want, not what others want you to do.

It DOES NOT matter what anybody else thinks about him. They are not going to be the one going out with him, you are. So the only person's opinion that matters is yours. It would be sad to miss the chance to get to know and have a wonderful person in your life because of what other people thought. I say if he is a good person, give him a chance.
