I'm doing an informal survey for my environmental class. What's the first thing that comes to mind?

It would help me if you include your occupation/status: student, homemaker, financial analyst, scientist, etc.

Thanks

The Earth is too dark. Dark things absorb more solar radiation than light-colored things do. We'd all be better off if the Earth were lighter and brighter, since that would reflect more energy.

An increase in the Sun's radiant output. It may be exacerbated to some degree by things that we're doing (and we have, no doubt, screwed up the environment in a lot of ways), but there's good, solid Geological evidence to show that the planet has been quite a bit colder *and* quite a bit hotter than it is right now. And there simply weren't any humans around several million years ago to have caused such changes.

I'm mostly retired but have been (at various times and places) mathematician, college professor, drug smuggler, electronics engineer, military professional, assasin, computer programmer, musician, and all-around screw-off, drunk, and lothario. (And no, I'm not kidding about any of it.)

I think it's caused by man's destruction of the coral reefs by polluting the seas. Normally the coral reefs are the regulators of Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere - if there's too much, the coral polyps remove it and turn it into calcium carbonate in the reefs. But because the reefs are dying, the control is gone, so there's nothing to remove the CO2 that we are producing.

Just off the top of my head it seems like increasing carbon dioxide in the air is causing the warming. And that carbon dioxide is from the widespread burning of natural gas, oil and especially coal.

I am a stay home mom.

I believe human is the main cause of global warming. We invented stuffs (e.g. vehicles) that help to improve our life style yet aren't protecting the enviroment.
