country and we just woke up there and some of us said we got there by train because somebody wrote that down. But another group showed that it couldn't possibly be because we crossed an ocean so we must have taken a plane. Who cares, we are there. What can we do from this point.

if the story of jesus is true, you have alot to gain by believing it
if it's not, believing it only gives you a great moral base

i believe it for many reasons, but your paradigm is best solved by this logic.

I know exactly what you're saying. True, we're here now and in the long run for many people it really doesn't matter how it all began because it doesn't directly impact their life now. However, people are naturally curious. They want to know about their ancestors and where human life came from. So saying, "Why don't we just forget it" is kind of like asking people to just stop being so curious. It isn't likely to happen.

That's a good point. I think the argument of how we got here gets so heated because it's one of the corner stones of religion. If you take away "God created man" by proving that man came to be by some natural process, then Christianity and other religions would basically self destruct.

Exactly.

Look at it from my view, if you are a depressed person, imagine you are in a dungeon with a killer after you, if you are a happy person, imagine you are in a candy store... now, imagine that you woke up, (Standing) in that odd place you have never seen, you are either going to try and find a way out, or try to enjoy it. Who cares how you got there? LIFE- WHO CARES HOW YOU GOT THERE??? You are already there, and you can't have a future if you keep looking at the past!! Live life and forget about why, and who, and how... just be.

Well in that case it does matter a little like if you want to go back or something like that but what i think you are really asking is what is the difference if you believe in G-D or evolution. If that is it is what you are asking it makes a world of difference how we got here. People who believe in evolution live there lives differently than people who believe in G-D because people who believe in evolution live there lives however they want because if they live like animals who cares . However people who believe in G-D say to themselves I was created what was i created for? Now they have to live there lives differently because there is a G-D that created them that they have to live the way G-d wants them to and they know that G-D is watching whatever they do. I would continue further but I have to go now

No, not really. The only thing is that if you believe there is no God than you must believe in evolution.

The theory of evolution arose during the renaissance when people were drawing away from religion

The only thing you can do on this point is to ignore the ignorants. My father use to say...it is impossible to straight up a tree that never grown straight...people are like trees they never change...no matter how hard you try.

It does make a difference how we got here as far as religion goes. If man wasn't created, then that means the holy books are wrong, and then everything we believe is wrong.

I agree with IF you just want to live a life for yourself, go shopping, entertain yourself, please your body, gratifiy your earthly desires. Yes, then none of the hard Q's in life need intrude on a shallow superficial existence.

Extend that. What is the point of education, what is the point of knowledge, or exploration, or experimentation?

We are human. We don't have strong teeth, or big claws, we can't outrun an antelope. We seek and question. That is our speciality.
