The gospels in the Old Testament were written by profits who were guided by the hand of God. These were then translated into the version we have today. The gospels in the New Testament bible were written by the apostles, who were with Jesus during His life on earth. They have since been translated to the present day version. Much of what you believe as a Christian is based on faith, and by having this faith you can then understand the writings in the bible.

The most interesting thing is that the earliest gospel writers (Paul and Mark) very clearly state that Jesus was born of man and is the son of Joseph.
Later gospel writers (Luke and Mathew) actively tried to make the Jesus story fit in with the Old Testament prophecies and so they put Mary as a Virgin and Jesus as the son of god.
Oh and Mark and the rest all were written at least after 70 AD, probably longer. Paul was the only one in that decades long gap and the god he called "Christ Jesus" never existed on Earth but lived in a mythical realm (Hebrew 8:4). So it does get shaky.

The men who wrote the gospels were with JESUS for 3 years. I'm sure Jesus spoke of the birth sometime in the 3 years. Jesus was 30 when he started his ministry. John wrote the book of revelation in a.d. 90 .. He could have been 70 or 80. I think if you spent 3 years with Jesus it would be quite hard to forget. The gospels were written from a.d. 45 - a.d. 60. The Bible is very accurate and believable.

The other ancient mystery cults in the area (Horus, Dionysus, Mithras, etc.) included virgin birth, shepherds, etc.
The Gospel writers copied ideas from the other mystery cults, just as the followers of Christianity have been incorporating other pagan ideas ever since.

All four of the Gospel writers were alive in Jesus' time. They were witness to Jesus' ministry and death, and two of the writers of books in the Bible were Jesus' half-brothers,who would have known Him growing up.
And no,the story of Jesus was not copied from pagan gods. The prophecies Jesus had to fulfill are in the Old Testamentas well..See here:

it is via fact the Catholic Church place greater empathsis on custom than the Bible and function placed an expert over the Bible, and that's the Pope. They take what the Pope says related to the Bible as infallible meaning he won't be in a position to be incorrect. consequently the Pope made this doctrine approximately Mary which isn't present day in scripture in any respect and it would desire to be amazing in accordance to the Catholic Church. in case you study the recent testomony then seem to the Catholic Church you will incredibly see how a strategies off base they are. it is unreal. and approximately this "human beings bow down in front of her statue, kiss her statue's ft, etc... " Exodus 20:4-5 (New King James version) 4 “You shall no longer make for your self a carved photograph—any likeness of something that's in heaven above, or that's interior the earth under, or that's interior the water under the earth; 5 you shall no longer bow all the way down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, traveling the iniquity of the fathers upon the youngsters to the 0.33 and fourth generations of people who hate Me, that's between the ten commandments, do you quite think of God approves of bowing all the way down to statues. in no way. i'd stay a strategies far flung from the Catholic Church, it is greater valuable to no longer flow Church in any respect than to flow a Catholic Church, it is crammed with heresy and you gets a greater valuable understanding of the scriptures basically examining the Bible extremely than heading to Catholic Church.

The book of Matthew was completed Circ 41 CE
So that would be about 8 years after Jesus death.
Now, we did say completed. It was originally written in Hebrew and we really don't know how soon after all this happened that it was started at recording what was now contained in this book.
However, we do know how the Bible writers were able to bring these things back to mind:
"For YOU know this first, that no prophecy of Scripture springs from any private interpretation. 21 For prophecy was at no time brought by man’s will, but men spoke from God as they were borne along by holy spirit." -2 Peter 1:20-21
"And he has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of David his servant, 70 just as he, through the mouth of his holy prophets from of old, has spoken " -Luke 1:69-70
"But when they are leading YOU along to deliver YOU up, do not be anxious beforehand about what to speak; but whatever is given YOU in that hour, speak this, for YOU are not the ones speaking, but the holy spirit is. " -Mark 13:11
Also regarding the last part of your comment................
The only think that the Scribes and Pharisees did NOT do was challenge Jesus lineage or family line. They knew that he was from the house of David, and this they NEVER challenged.
Also, Daniel's prophecy about the 70 weeks pinpointed Jesus baptism in approx. the 1st quarter of the 1st Century.
It was during this time that Luke had written concerning the appearance of the "Anointed One" or "Christ":
"Now as the people were in expectation and all were reasoning in their hearts about John: “May he perhaps be the Christ?” 16 John gave the answer, saying to all: “I, for my part, baptize YOU with water; but the one stronger than I am is coming, the lace of whose sandals I am not fit to untie" -Luke 3:15-16
Yes! the people were looking for the fulfillment of Daniels Prophecy concerning the 70 Weeks (Daniel 9:24-27)
Not long after that Jesus was baptized presenting himself to do his Fathers will.
(everytime I get this far Yahoo erases it! ARG!!!)
Interestingly, after Jerusalem had been destroyed by the Romans in 70 CE no one could claim to be the Messiah because all of the records that were kept for this purpose had been burned. I am sure some tried, but Jesus proved himself to be the Messiah, so the records were no longer needed.
Then he stated something that should have shook the people to their senses:
“Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the killer of the prophets and stoner of those sent forth to her,—how often I wanted to gather your children together, the way a hen gathers her chicks together under her wings! But YOU people did not want it. 38 Look! your house is abandoned to you" -Matthew 23:37-38
Mark was completed: Circ 60-65 CE
(27 to 32 Years after his death)
Luke was completed: Circ 56-58 CE
(23 to 25 Years after his death)
However, the point being that God's Spirit moved them to write accurately.
His Spirit also protected the authenticity of the Scriptures to our day. Any errors have been found and corrected using other texts.

Well, Mary was there. Joseph was there. Wow! How do they remember? I bet your parents don't remember anything!
How did those writers get the Romans to do a census, so the couple would have to get up and travel to Bethlehem?
How did they get the Governor to search for a child that did not exist?
How did Jesus fake all those healings? the blind see, the lame walk, the leprosy gone . . .?
It is up to you, and you don't want to believe . . . whatever!

From oral tradition. That's how Biblical scholars explain it.
There are many books on the subject of how the Bible came about. They all say the same thing.
Have a nice day!
