yes. they got rid of soda machines, and they no longer served "fatty" foods, or foods high in salt...
as an end resutl, all food apparently was bland and tasteless.. more like rubber...

Mine didn't other than that since it had no cafeteria we either brought lunches, ate at the fountain of a nearby drug store (that was waaaay back when drug stores had a fountain), or went hungry. My son's schools didn't control what he ate either other than he either to take his lunch or eat whatever was being served in the cafeteria. The kids were not allowed to leave campus for lunch unless they lived close to the school and had permission from parents to go home for lunch.

No they didnt' control what we ate, but they did control what they offered, which, is often mandated by law.
By the way... before you criticize school food, try to cook for 1,000 kids every day and make it all quality gourmet food ... oh and keep it cheap and within the nutritional requirements mandated by your state. When you figure out how to do this, start a company and rake in the millions.

Yes. They limit us to take 5 things and we must have 3 things on our tray. I don't buy my lunch anymore cuz my school's food SUX! lol. It's thee nasssstiest food ever! They didn't give very healthy food anyways.
