I don't like soda, so I drink a lot of juice. Yet when I look at the bottle it says 100% juice, but right next to it, it says "made from concentrate".

My question is how is it possible that it is made out of concentrate yet 100% juice?

You've hit on the deceiving advertisment that can be on labels.

It's 100% fruit juice because it's fruit juice that's been boiled down (water removed - concetrated).

However, sugar is sugar... whether from a fruit source, sugar cane, sugar beet or corn derived. The concentrate is used as another form of sweetener, but since they didn't add sugar or corn syrup they can call it 100% fruit juice.

Some manufacturers will argue/claiim that by concentrating the juice, they're making it more stable for transport and storage. However, when the reconstitute the juice by adding water... most manufacturers don't add 100% of the water back in becuase they like to keep a certain sweetness lever knowing the public has a sweet tooth.

Just look for juices that are NOT made from concentrate. They're out there.

It is possible and probable. 100% juice used to only be available if you squeezed the oranges, whatever, yourself. No doubt the juice is picked at its peak, then concentrated until required to produce juice for public consumption.

Its perfectly fine for you, if you can, there are juices labled "not made from concentrate".

Juice "cocktails" are not 100% juice. I don't bother with these.
Good to read those labels!

They only add water to take it back to the way it was before it was concentrate, but you are right it does sound strange, I suppose they don't add anything else.
