Read Matt. 10:28-29. "Do not fear those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. “Are not two sparrows sold for a cent? And yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father.

Those who have an abortion are "kiling" a body, not a soul...and therefore those individuals should not be feared. The next line states that God is aware of all that is going on and he is ALLOWING it for his own reasons. Think about it.

And just b/c I have to say this....I would never have an abortion myself, that is my own personal choice. However, I don't like the idea of anyone legislating my body...that's all.

Wow, I'm impressed with all of you. I was bracing myself for a wicked flaming...thanks for your open eyes and minds.

Oh...here are the flamers. Slow-typers I guess lol. I am allowed to interpret the Bible as I see fit, and nothing is out of context at all...

I'm doing nothing different than preachers do on a Sunday morn...taking a scripture and applying it to our modern life, which of course is never a perfect fit.

Agreed, good use of the Bible, of all arguments I have seen, to support yourself. Let humans make the only thing that God let us have ourselfs, a choice.

You are absolutely correct. And that is one reason most people do not support the pro life view.
God invented abortion. God uses abortion every day to control His world. And he does not kill in abortion. It is clear in the Bible that God does not place a soul in a fetus until he "breaths life" into the baby at birth. That is simply fact.
Those that try to say that abortion is murder are simply false prophets and will burn in hell for lying about what the Bible very clearly says and what God himself practices. Revelations is very clear that there will be false prophets and that the mass of sinners will belive those prophets and will pay the price outlined in the Bible.

Abortion is not condoned in the Bible. Matthew 10:28-29 is saying that anyone can kill the body, but God is able to kill both body and soul in hell. God is not condoning killing of any kind.
Jesus said, "What does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul?" God is saying no one has authority to cast people into hell but Him and hell kills body and soul, not just body.
Your enemy can kill only the body but he can't keep you from the resurrection to life everlasting. Only God can keep you from life everlasting with Him. God was getting the disciples ready to be persecuted and crucified by the Romans and He told them they would endure great persecution for His name. The Romans would kill their body, but they couldn't kill their soul because it belonged to Jesus and it had life everlasting.

You have twisted this worse than anyone that I have ever seen for the cause of legislating the body. No where in God's word does God condone abortion not even for saving the mother's life.
I believe abortion should only be condoned if it is necessary to save the mother's life, but if it is in the Bible I would like to know the verse. Abortion is innocent blood and it cries out to God from the ground. When it comes to abortion God may know it is happening but He does not condone it and His commandment is thou shalt not kill.

If God wanted everything to happen for His reasons and man had no choice then we'd all still be in the Garden of Eden and Eve would not had the choice to eat of that tree.

All life is precious to God. We all have a body, soul, and spirit from the moment of conception (when the sperm enters the egg).
You are taking the scripture out of context, as most unregenerated people do.
The scripture is telling us not to fear the devil, he can't kill our soul, but to fear what will happen if we don't follow the plan of redemption given to us by God (Acts 2:38) This is to wash away our sins. He then gives us the Holy Ghost to regenerate our dead spirit with His Living Spirit. We know that we have it the same way that they knew in the upper room on the Day of Pentecost! Salvation is only found in the Bible and we must do it exactly the way they did it in the Bible! Do it today, He's waiting on you!!

yes and no there is the 6th commandment thou shalt not kill !i am with you on never having an abortion but i wouldn't judge someone who has had one.abortion like it or not is killing a living thing .women have abortions for different reasons i just wish it wasn't so easy to come by maybe women would think twice about having unprotected sex.just an opinion .i don't however believe things happen for God's reasons we have free will it is not necessarily what God wants.

Huh? That's got to be some of the most skewed logic I have ever seen here on Y!A.

A baby in the womb is no different than a baby that's already been born. They both have bodies and souls, so when you destroy the body, you are taking a human life. And God definitely said, "Thou shalt not kill (i.e., do no murder.")

God knows when a baby is aborted, a woman is raped, or a man is murdered, but that doesn't mean that He approves. We make the choice to sin, and because we have free will, God permits it. It's NOT what He wants.

So, no, I'm sorry, but the Bible doesn't condone the murder of innocent unborn babies.

You were completely and utterly wrong and heres why...

1. Pro-life people are not suggesting that we fear abortion doctors, merely to stop them from committing murder and not condone what ought not be done.

2. God clearly gave rights to the unborn and treated them as a person in Exodus 21:22-25. Therefore to take a life without Gods consent is murder, even a fetus that the world seemingly cares nothing about.

3. Just because God ALLOWS evil to act, does not mean he APPROVES. God allows people to do lots of evil everyday. I just heard of a woman that beat her newborn baby on the head light enough so as to not be obvious but hard enough to kill them, then dumped them in a dumpster. Are you telling us that there is good reason behind that? There isnt, its just people doing what they do; evil.

The point of the verse was not to allow and sanction evil because it doesnt immediately threaten our soul, it means that we should FEAR GOD, and not fear the people (persecutors and murderers) that want to kill us and unborn babies for their own selfish purposes.

Legislation is not about your body, its about the baby, and protecting the rights of the unborn from the tyrrany and evil people that want to take it away to gratify their own selfish desires, pride, and fear of motherhood/fatherhood.

You're totally misusing Scripture. Jesus was talking about the fact that we shouldn't fear ppl persecuting us for our faith. This has nothing to do with abortion. Abortion is the willful murder of an unborn child.

However, using your line of thought, we should always oppose those who kill the body unjustly, like murderers, and so we should oppose abortion as well. Your incorrect in your analogy and prove yourself wrong even with your faulty logic.

You say you don't like anyone legislating your body, the problem is, it isn't just your body when you have a baby inside you, the baby is there, too.

Jesus was speaking to His followers not fetuses, Why would He write to a fetus, am sure being God He would know that they can't read yet. Jesus knows everything but that doesn't make everything right. Where did He say He was allowig anything fr His own reasons? BTW your body is not your own, God still owns it.You may live in an apartment but not own it. Your abiblity to interpret the Bible is not very good. A simple cource on logic may help.

Ediit You sure take on yourself a lot of rights don't you. Who gave you the right to your own interpretation of the Bible. The /bible says, "No prophecy of scripture is of any private interpretation..."

I would hardly consider that as condoning. However a couple of interesting points, first, a child is said to be a gift from God so an abortion would certainly be considered refusing a gift. Second, in the book of Job it says that to be taken from your mothers womb to the grave is to be as if you never were. Food for thought.

Jesus said; thou shall not be angry with his brother without a cause, Thou shall not kill, Thou shall not judge, take first the beam from your eye, then you can see clearly to remove the speck from your brothers eye, Thou shall not resist evil, thou shall turn the other cheek.

Love one another as I have loved you, love even them that pierced me.
Blessed are ye when men shall revile you and persecute you and speak all manner of evil against you, falsely for my sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad.....
