Well... my college roommates heated up lard and added the canned beans to the lard.
I believe most mexcian restaurants do this too.
It was good, but thinking of the added fat kind of freaked me out. I still ate it, but used it as a light spread instead of dalloping it on.
But for us gringos, chopped onions, jalapenos and salsa can be added. I still add a little extra oil... about 1/4 cup per can. Also, I add shredded cheese.
For a low fat approach, use chicken broth instead of oil... plus the other items - onions, peppers and salsa.

If you want to eat truly healthy, lose body fat consistently, normalize your blood pressure, cholesterol levels, prevent cancer, and even boost your brain health and energy levels, you may have heard all over the news that the Paleo Diet has been found to be one of the best methods of achieving all of these benefits compared to any other popular "fad" diets out there. Go here https://biturl.im/aU0xT
The truth is that the Paleo Diet will never be considered a fad because it's just simply the way that humans evolved to eat over approximately 2 million years. And eating in a similar fashion to our ancestors has been proven time and time again to offer amazing health benefits, including prevention of most diseases of civilization such as cancer, heart disease, alzheimers, and other chronic conditions that are mostly caused by poor diet and lifestyle. One of the biggest misunderstandings about the Paleo Diet is that it's a meat-eating diet, or a super low-carb diet. This is not true

I like adobo powder--regular or the one with cumin.
If you like heat, try canned chipotle peppers in adobo (not the same stuff as the powder--I don't know why they both have the same name.) It tastes like a hot, smoky barbecue sauce, and the peppers are hot but delicious. Start with a few and add more if you need them.
Add dairy products to heal the burn--cheese or sour cream.
One of my favorite meals when I was an exchange student in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico was mulletas--split French (or Italian, or Cuban) bread, spread with refried black beans, topped with mozzarella. Broil until the cheese is bubbly. Top that with tomatillo salsa or if you can find it, condensed tomato broth.
Verrrrrry delicioso!

I make a dip out of them.
Heat them in the microwave with some grated cheese on them. Take them out, stir in some sour cream and some salsa. Serve with tortilla chips.
For just making them taste a little better as a side dish, you can add grated cheese to them and a little enchilada sauce over the top.

I add 1/4 cup salsa or diced, mild, green chilies to mine, sometimes I add both if I'm feeling sassy, along with some hot sauce, usually Cholula.
