sin is sin is sin.....is what i often hear. but is it really??? if your conscience verifies the validity of the commandments, does it not also make a distinction between murdering someone and ...say.....stealing a dollar from someone????

both clearly wrong...but are they equally wrong??? is stealing a dollar bill just as offensive to god as killing someone made in his image??

likewise....are we all equally holy...just because we accept jesus??
jesus unlocks the door for you.....but isn't the rest up to you???

didnt he say each will be rewarded according to their works???

love you protestants...but if you could explain this to me id appreciate it...

Well theologically any sin will seperate you from the Holy God.

In terms of our relationship with God then all sin is equal. However, sin does have varying degrees as defined by our society and the natural earthly consequences.

Yes sin is all equal according to the bible. Sound very far fetched sometimes but it depends on how you look at it. If you class stealinga dollar as bad as murder are you going to do it as much? NO! Once we ask God forgiveness we are adomattically forgiven for all the sins we've done and all the one we will do. But the trick is that when JC comes back we will ALL be judged by God on how well we shared his words. So if we read is word and pray then with HIS help become more christ like. It really is hard but its a fun ride. Sin is sins sin is sin.....
may God bless you and everyone you love!

It's not about your conscience, its about the word of God. If its a no no, then its a no no. The laws of man give each sin, in the eyes of man, there equal punishment. In the eyes of God, which I am not, I would say God's judgment is up to... well God. The basic, sin is a sin is a sin, is just saying "it doesn't matter which one it is, DON'T DO IT!" Do your best to be a good person, repent and all that jazz.

This is particularly the reason (I believe) that the Bible tells us not to compare ourselves amongst ourselves, for in doing so, it is NOT wise.

It is SO easy to be self righteous in ourselves when we can say, "Well, I may not be PERFECT, but at least I've never done..." (insert your vilest sin here).

Because when we will be Judged, we will be compared to the perfection of Jesus Christ. When we are Born Again, the Father looks at us and doesn't see our OWN sin nature, but sees JESUS' Nature that has been given to us through the New Birth. There was NOTHING we could do to earn it, and there's NOTHING we can do to maintain it; it is the GIFT of God.

So when compared with Perfection, all sin, is revealed in all it's ugliness, with all it's ugly intents; and there will be NO covering for the unrepentant sinners sins. Their "good" will not be weighed against their "bad" on some celestial scale, as so many people think. It will be TOO late!

Our sins, no matter what they are, are the reason Jesus had to die. Yes, to us sins do have degrees but, not to God because of the death of His precious Son. Blasphemy is unforgivable because it is denial of God.

Yes the written word of God does say that there will be different degrees of reward. I suppose that someone who has devoted their whole life to God, will maybe be a captain or a leader of some type. I don't really know until I get there.

Any sin will send you to hell.
Only Jesus is the door (way, truth and life).
Jesus said trying to enter another way won't get you in.
Hating can be equal to murder.
Lust can be equal to adultry.
The evil is in your heart.
Yes the thief and the murderer both will have their place in the lake of fire.
Rev 18-22
If your name isn't in the book of life you will be cast in the lake of fire.
No man comes to the Father but by Me...

Actually, they don't believe that all sins are equal.

They believe that all sins are equal, except for one: blasphemy.

According to them, blasphemy is far worse than rape and murder. You can check some of the other recent questions to see for yourself.

This is one reason why I despise most "Christians."

I really can't. I've just been indoctrinated with this ideology since I was old enough to walk.. I had no choice in deciding whether or not I believed it. But I will never change.
