My son is allergic to peanuts and we recently heard that he might be allergic to peas as well as there is an apparent connection between the two. Is this true? Only serious answers please.

Don't risk an allergic reaction; phone your doctor's office to make sure.
Peanuts and peas are both legumes, from the same family. Peas are Pisum sativum; peanuts are Arachis hypogaea (so named because they taste like peas when raw).
Peanut allergy is common, peas much less so. Because *tree* nuts come from completely different plants, your son likely can eat hazelnuts, walnuts, brazil nuts and so on quite safely.

I have definitely heard of a connection between peanuts and peas. It has something to do with being legumes. I have always hated peas, and have just been told that I have a slight allergy to them, but am allergic to nuts as well. Your best best is to have allergy testing done, and to avoid peas until you are sure of a possible reaction or allergy. Always carry an epi-pen too!!

Not to my knowledge
the only association that I had always been taught
was that the peanut was named such
because of the appearance of the nut to be that of a pea
that's what I have always heard and what I have always believed !!

im serverly allergic to nuts and i have no problem with peas. maybe the dr meant beans (like soybeans) and said peas. many people who are allergic to nuts have a problem with soy beans.

well of coarse the names may sound a bit alike
but feeding your son peas is totally fine
no relation to peas
