I've had ulcers, my husband has had acid reflux. Both should be diagnosed by a gastro interologist.
Nothing medical should be treated by any of us on the web. See a doctor. But in the meantime:
I went on an "ulcer" diet which helped but it really depends on what causes them, and that can be bacteria they say now.
I ate NO foods that take much to digest them. i.e. no raw fruits, vegetables, (specially iceburg lettuce!) meat, etc... or unless they were cooked or put through a blender! I did drink some milk, & ate yogurt which can help by using "friendly" bacteria.
I too learned that gum can be bad, at least if you're inclined or become so, to stomach problems. Chewing triggers stomach acid for digestion.
I stayed away from spicy or salty foods, nothing acidic (like orange juice). I did this for about a week. Some people are helped by drinking water to dilute the acid, but not too much!
There are things like Pepto Bismal or acid reducers like Tums etc that might help, temporarily.
My grandmother didn't let on that she had ulcers, and she was 92. She must have had them for a long time. Problem, other than the normal, was that hers was at the "joint" of the large & small intestins. Over time, the scar tissue blocked the digestion and absorption of vitamins & minerals from her food. She did not survive because she became malnurished and things shut down before we could operate. But she would've been too weak to survive an operation by that time.
Ulcers are not necessarily fatal, unless they're bleeding. They can be treated, but you want to catch them in time.
See a Dr. now, learn about it, and if you get more later on, you'll know better how to treat them. One thing is to avoid stress, or change your life to avoid it.
Eat a good balanced diet and stay away from carbonation. My husband is sure his reflux was from years of sodas. Reflux is a whole different and potentially more serious problem!

Go see a doctor just to make sure everythingys okay.
Also just a question - do you chew gum alot? i heard that chewing gum can give you stomach ulcers as the stomach thinks its about to get food when it isnt which forms ulcers in the stomach.
Hope you feel better soon :)

sounds like a stomach ulcer, either stop taking all the pills without water, or just drink a little milk when it flares up , it will go right away for a good bit!

You sound very tense and anxious, and yes that could be the reason for the gastric upset. You can try any of the OTC meds like "Zantac","Pepcid" and follow the directions on the box,but you need to see your MD to help you sort this out,it can be easily treated with the proper medications,Left untreated it very well can turn into something more serious. Please see the Doctor, take care. Go for an Endoscopic examination immediately in ER, useless sitting on the net. This is the best possible any professional will give you.
All the best.
