if you find who did it turn them in to your local aniamal shelter or police. a man down our street poisoned our dog a year ago and he sadly died. we found the man and sued
It is very worth it. if you feel its important enough, i would persue it.
poor puppy. so sorry for your loss

I am so sorry you lost your dog this way.
Call the police. A crime has been committed. This may not be the first such incident in your neighborhood.
Call them, even if you think it won't do any good. Maybe it will-maybe the police can figure out who did it & save some one else's dog.
Bless your heart-I feel for you. I had a neighbor kill one of my dogs years ago-the anger, the helplessness, the sorrow all combine to make you feel awful & it takes a long time to get over it.
Best wishes to you & your family.

How awful! I am sorry for your loss.
Unfortunately, unless you have some sort of proof as to who did it, it probably won't be solved.
Police wont' do anything about it unless you know who did it- and you can't get a civil remedy either. You can ask them to figure out what type of weapon was used- and maybe there were reports of shots fired or someone who has used the gun before.
If the cops won't do anything, you can pay a PI to investigate who may be registered to the gun used if you pay for someone to analyze the bullet.
Just keep your eyes and ears open and do a little investigating yourself to see if you can't find out more info.
Again, sorry for your loss!! Maybe consider moving to a new neighborhood??

you should at least file a police report. if the police wont investigate then ask all you neighbors if they saw anything. try to get all the information you can. report anything you find out to the police. just file a police report so if you do find anything out on your own the police will have a record.
I'm very sorry about your loss. dogs are part of the family and i wouldn't give up trying to figure out what happened.

Take the dog to your vet for an autopsy. Verify that it was a gun shot and retrieve the bullet if possible. Thats the best evidence and from there you can make a case with police or animal control officers.

What makes you think that it is useless to do your civic duty by calling the police? Someone discharged a firearm within your neighborhood and cruelly killed your dog. This may not be the only time this happens; so report it.

I think you should call the police no matter what because someone else in your neighborhood might have heard the gun shot, too. So, if they heard it and went outside, they might have seen who it was but didn't want to call the police [[like you]]. You should call around to see if anyone else knows about it. Good Luck :)

call the police. and atleast report it...i am asumeing ur kinda in the country because the discharge of a weapon within city limits is illegal and so close to a house. in my state if the dog was chasing a deer it can be legally shot. which is BS. and if it was on your property get it posted....no tresspass warning ect put up.
that is so sad i am sorry for your loss and your kids too...

You should probably call the police since someone thinks it's okay to go around shooting things in a residential area. If for no other reason, at least it's on record if there are any other incidents in the area.
