I just recently passed the testing weekend for my local PD. That included the Integrity Questionairre. I devuldge pretty much everthing i can remember in my life. Included was questions about drug use. I answered truthfully on what drugs I used ( cocaine, meth, ecstasy, acid, marijuana) and how many times ( 5-10 times depending on the drug). And yes I passed. It all happended primarily when i was a kid in high school. Its not who I am anymore. Currently a Corrections Officer and have strong moral and ethical values that came out during the interview. Just worried aboout something maybe I forgot or will remember later.

I guess my question is that I know those numbers are off on the number of times I used a paticular drug and how would i handle that and/ or will that cause a problem later? Also what if i remember other stuff in my past that i forgot to put down? It was ovewr 15yrs ago on some of these issues. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks.

I would say as long as it is not something that would "shock the conscience" i.e humping a goat while your drunk buddy videotaped it. I would suspect you would remember something like that although alcohol has been know to erase memory. That or a major crime that you are implicated to. I.E. home invasion or robbery and again I think you would recall these acts. If you felt you were honest and divulged everything that you feel could be dug up in an intenstive background investigation then I don't think you have anything to worry about. If you are asking this question because you know you left something out and are wondering what the probability is they will find out...They will find out if they do any type of extensive background. They will talk to your high school teachers, highschool friends, neighbors, past employers, even people you did not get along with in school. They will go through your life from pretty much grade school on up. Its kind of expected that kids will do some type of experimenting but it will all boil down to how many candidates there are for the position and who comes out with higher morale character.
Funny how the silly stupid stuff kids do when they are young and never realize the potential consequences later.
All you can do is be honest.
Good luck and Godspeed

I guess it all depends on the agency. Sounds like you are in the first phase of the hiring process. At each level it is normal for you to remember something that you had forgotten about. At our agency we have the physical, written exam, and oral interview all on the same day. In the interview we ask about drug usage, crimes committed, ethical history.
Once you have completed your oral interview you receive a background packet. This thing is a freakin monster to fill out. You fill it out and your assigned to a background investigator.
If you pass that then you get a conditional offer of employment and must pass a polygraph, physical, and psych eval.
But at each phase of the process they are expecting to find out more about you as they go, either info coming from you or from their investigation.
Then before you take your polygraph you take another questionare naming all kinds of crap you could have been involved in.
Anyways this was my experience. As long as you are honest then you should be good 2 go.

Best of luck to you. Just be as honest as you can about your history; if you can't remember, give your best guess and tell them that's what you are doing.

BTW- Be thankful. I have NEVER heard of any agency considering people with that kind of prior drug use.
