My ceilings are 16 feet high, and I thought it would be fun to have a little nest-like thing that I can climb into. Maybe there's a website or something that would point me in the right direction?

can you weld? i would say bend rebar into a 3-4 foot wide circle, and maybe 2-3 foot deep nest shape, by cross hatching the sides and bottom, like a big ole bowl, and attach 3 repelling syle clamps along the top circle. then i think maybe i would cover it with canvas leaving the clamps at the top still accessible, if you wanted to, you can make a mixture of paint, and hay, and plop it around the underside for the nest affect, then get a big floor pillow to push down on the inside of it, and then finally attach three chains to the hooks previously attached around the rim. i think that you may spend maybe $35 on that stuff, but i personally spend the extra money on a clamp and hook thats gonna hold that big heavy nest up there. sounds like a fun weekend project.

thats freakishly tight. i wish i had high ceilings. best way to do it, probly get a tarp and sew blankets/comforters/ whatever to it and around it so u cant tell its a tarp. get cables or strong rope and go to home depot and ask em for some wicked strong thingys to hold this beast up. make sure u dont just attatch it to sheetrock or itll rip the damn thing off the wall/ceiling. itd probly be best to loop it over a support beam to the house if those are exposed, or heftydrill it into one. sweet idea dude, i wanna try that someday

That sounds like a hella good idea!!! I would use something round to make the basket..bamboo comes to mind...just cuz it would be easier to make it round..err..nest shaped.......then around the perimeter of the "nest" you make....tie some rope on there.........and up to some hooks imbedded in your ceiling joists..........there ya go.......
ps.......be sure to put newspapers all around the floor underneath it.....hehe

What comes to mind is a "Papa Son" (sp) chair the extra large kind. Just use the round seat frame, most comes with a cushion.
This would be so cool if it could sway.
