When i look online or speak to people they shun a person because of what religion he is or what sexuality they are...
why, as people, can we not see each other as that

I agree with you Muslims are discriminated and prejudged on here.
Why are people on here hating on Islam. Islam is prejudges and misunderstood. I have several muslim friends, and believe me they are TRUE muslims. Who worship god 5 times a day, donating to charity, going pilgrimages and more.
Sadam and Osama why are they picking on us? Well why are our and american troops in Iraq, killing innocent iraqis day by day, only when british soldier dies there is coverage on the news but when a iraqi dies no-one cares.

We see people through their religious affilliation because the religious put it in front of themselves. Or would you not judge by affiliation if someone introduced himself as "Joe Bob, local Grand Wizard of the KKK"?
When someone introduces themself as a "good christian", the first think I do is make sure I still have my wallet. The only trustworthy christians I have ever met are the ones who never mention it until I learn about it by accident.

While it's true we need to look beyond labels, those labels do provide a basis for an initial sense of who and what a person is.
After all, which would you prefer: cooked, pulverized bovine flesh or a hamburger? Labels are important.

Though we do not have the same beliefs..I admire them..
They have Never been cruel or said anything evil to me..we have even had converstions about family and friends.. :)
