Were they promiscuous or cheating? Promiscuous might dampen the urge to live the wild life, but if they've cheated before, they'll probably cheat again.

I don't think promiscuity has anything to do with it, however, past behavior in general is a good indicator. So if your partner cheated on partners in the past, that would be a BIG RED FLAG to me. Also, how other people, like parents and older siblings conducted their relationships might have a big influence on how your partner is in a relationship. If all their role models were lying, betraying types, well then..... Another indicator might be what type of person your partner is. Do they have integrity? Do they stand behind their word? or do they find reasons and excuses for their behavior?

It depends on the person, if they respect their partner and themselves. I havn't seen any studies myself but i don't think sleeping around from singleton is normally incorporated into a relationship. As with anything, there is always one who is foolish. Personally, I have had fun in the past but would never dream of playing away now that i'v got a lovely boyfriend.

While past behavior can be an indicator of future behavior, it's not necessarily so. It would depend on the people involved, the level of commitment in the relationship, and the willingness of each person to "be there" for the other. That being said, the more a person exposes themselves to that behavior, they more desentisized they become. I would enter any such relationship cautiously.

Promiscuity isn't an indicator of whether someone will cheat or not. If they cheated on a partner in the past, that is the stronger indicator. It isn't about libido.

Promiscuous...why?
If something bad happened that pushed them to promiscuity, then they are more likely to keep up the habit.
If they were just promiscuous on their own, then it's more likely they will settle into a relationship after the wild oats have been sown.

neither one makes any sense. Promiscuous and cheating are not the same. Now promiscuous and shacking up might be the same, but then there is no commitment if you are shacking, just convenience, so is there any cheating?

I think men are more likely to hold on to their piggish ex ways than women, we seem to be wired to feel guiltier about our passed so therefore do not want to repeat our mistakes once we get married to a good man. Just my opinion, good luck!

it does not matter what any studies show its all about will --- if you have cheated and no longer wish to cheat then you dont cheat --- its that simple --- everything is your decision

Like they say - once a cheater, always a cheater....
Fact is, the tested, true, and tried again statement holds true - PEOPLE DON'T CHANGE...
or they rarely do.
