its fine if its only 1/4 carat. There really isnt a common size, everyone out there has a different budget as well as taste. So just pick out the ring you like most than look at what you have to spend on it.

9 carat is the appropriate selection for wedding ceremony jewelry because it is not any longer so organic as 18 carat. Gold is a soft metallic, so 18 carat jewelry positioned on and scratch greater definitely. 9 carat will look precisely the comparable as 18 carat first of all yet will look nicer for longer.

The most common carats in engagement rings are 1/4 and 1/2, because of the expense. You can find full carat solitairs for comparable prices, perhaps even less expensive, but the quality and the color will be much lower than those of 1/4 -1/2 .
CONGRADULATIONS!

If you love the ring then the size is perfect. However $799 is way too expensive for that ring. Check e-bay.

Definitely. It's sad that diamond rings have become a symbol of status rather than of love. Get what you want.

Do you have a URL for the ring? Let's see it! :)

I think that is fine. You want to do something that is nice and within your budget. You can always upgrade to a bigger ring in the future, many people do that. If you can do it without financing the ring, that is your best bet.

What's most common or what costs what should not be the issue! Geez -- it's the SYMBOLISM of the ring which is of importance.
Be happy that he is asking you, and accept whatever ring he is offering to you!!!

(by the way, thanks for the nasty link -- mucked Answers right up - but it is a pretty ring)

It all depends on budget and what is appropriate for you. if you love the ring it doesnt matter what size it is. You can always upgrade years down the road if you feel you want somethign bigger.
