teaching the absolute worst. Matter of fact, I can't think of a political party that is less Christian in deeds. I understand that many are anti-abortion, but that does not make the rest of what the Repubs. do ok...and the whole point is free will, right? The Republicans may say they are the moral ones, but I just don't see it? Do you?
The Republicans
ex. Intolerance to gays, minorities, etc (Jesus is a very tolerant man, don't worry about the splinter in another man's eyes, when you have a log in yours...remember?)
War-mongering (Jesus was a peaceful man, turn the other cheek....remember?)
Forced compliance to morality (The only way to salvation is through choice, according to the Bible)
Cutting social services-- The Bible is full of references of helping the poor and destitute (Repubs. just call 'em "lazy")
The Democrats
Increasing social services
Tolerance
Peace
Choice
....WWJD?

Being Independent is just throwing away my vote at this point, and I have vote for them before.
I just don't understand WHY Christians are Republicans, that's all.

Exactly he expects change, but that is an INDIVIDUAL choice...not one to be forced upon anybody. That's not salvation, that's coercion. And, no I haven't taken a thing out of context...I just happen to understand the Bible better than you do, I guess.

Jesus did get mad...and it happened to be at a TEMPLE...he didn't like the money-changing occuring...makes you think about all the books, CDs and DVDs being sold in churches all the time...don't think that somebody is not making a profit on them.

As a born-again Christian for 27 years as well as a lifelong Democrat, I certainly agree with you.
I don't know that most Christians are Republicans, although it seems most in the born-again, evangelical movement are. The reasons:
--Christians are taught to associate sin with sexual sin such as abortion, homosexuality, fornication, etc., not with socio-economic sins such as racism, exploiting the poor, and poisoning the environment for profit. Some people go as far as to overspiritualize the Parable of the Sheep and the Goats, as if it couldn't possibly apply to physical needs!
--I believe that white, racist, and/or business-minded people are deliberately deceiving these Christians to push forward their agenda under the cloak of piety. The Pharisees and other religious people in power did similar things in Jesus' time.
--In the same vein, those white racist business-minded people are uncomfortable, to say the least, with the gains of the civil rights movement, the women's movement, the anti-war movement, and so forth. Such gains threaten their power. So they make it seem righteous for the "great unwashed" to give up their power, while the rich and powerful aren't giving up theirs.
Don't worry, people, I haven't forgotten the personal levels of the gospel message--though I suspect that the powers-that-be want us to forget the gospel's social message.
BTW, Jesus warned us about those who might "deceive the elect, if this were possible."

The older I get, the less interest I have in politics. I am with Jesus, and He plainly said that His kingdom was not of this world. However, I have never ever voted Republican. I see George Bush as a sorry excuse for a leader. I just don't happen to think the Democrats are much better either. I am reminded of a quote from Tolkien: "I am not altogether on anybody's side, because nobody is altogether on my side."

Actually, it is lovely transparent that the majority individuals who say that moderates don't have any situation within the Republican Party don't seem to be historic ample to recall what the get together used to be like earlier than 1980. Republican presidents like Gerald Ford and Richard Nixon had been lovely slight of their social perspectives. It used to be, in the end, for the period of Nixon's management that Title IX used to be handed, each the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts had been handed, The proposed Equal Rights Amendment used to be handed, and abortion used to be legalized. It wasn't till 1980 while contributors of the Religious Right like Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell and their supportes helped get Reagan elected that the get together took a difficult flip to the correct. That's once we began listening to approximately divisive wedge disorders like abortion and the way it will have to be banned. The Republican Party's 1976 get together platform truthfully supported abortion rights however best marginally. What individuals are mistaking for being conservatives are truthfully neocons. They maintain extremist perspectives and notice the arena in phrases of black and white. Even former presidential candidate Barry Goldwater, who used to be recognized for being a conservative, didn't consider those individuals and distanced himself from them.

I am a Christian democrat for exactly this reason. But I know some who have said, GWB may not be perfect but at least he is moral enough not to have a BJ in the oval office. I feel like saying if that is the only thing Clinton did that you disagree with you think it makes him worse after all Bush has lied about? Can't wait until 2008.

I haven't seen any success from either party.
I am as much against our corrupt two-party system as I am against organized religion. Have you looked at the people you are voting for? Every one of them are filthy rich. They have NO CLUE what it is to be an average citizen. If the Democrats are so good then why wasn't gay marriage legalized when they were in power?
Its all a game. The sooner people realize that then the sooner we can put an end to the two-party screw over.

You must remember that the 1st mission of any political party is survival, none will ever fully represent a Christian world view. You must work out you own salvation. Vote however you feel.

What makes you think that the majority of Christians are Republican? That is just a myth created by the so-called 'moral majority' (which is actually just an out-spoken minority).

Jesus would be and was the first person to call sin sin. Look at the his turning over the tables in the temple. I think you need to read all of the gospels. Not just the parts that can be twisted to justify sinful nature.
And I suppose in the end He isn't going to send anyone to hell either? Read it again!
