i really like this guy i have known him for 5 years but he doesn't really like me. so would i annoy him or creep him out if i talked to him or hung out with or talked to him on aim?

Why not start small, make friends for example. Too much is not good, but do a little at a time.

No, theres nothing wrong with trying to start a conversation with someone, especially someone you are interested in. I would just start out with saying "what's up?", then work you way on down to asking if he would mind if ya'll hung out--something recreational, like bowling, or movies. Don't go for the dinner date just yet. See if he's down for it, then work your way in. Good luck!

If he doesn't like you, then I think you would annoy him more than anything if you started talking to him on aim.

even if i did not want a lady as a girlfriend i would not be "creeped" out if we talked --- i prefer to talk to ladies -- their conversation is more interesting than most of the guys i know --- best wishes
