Never buy a dog for the way it looks, same as never marry some one for the way they look. You need to figure out what personality traits you want in the animal first, then go from there. Do you want high energy or low, do you want pertective or lovable with everyone.

Check out this site and do the questionnaire to see which dog you might like to have. http://www.glowdog.com/bestdog/

I think a Komondor is the breed for you.
There's only 50 litters of pups born each year in the U.S.
And plus, they are considered a large breed!
I think they range anywhere from 25 1/2 to 27 1/2 inches.
They are very obedient dogs.
Here's some good websites:

American Bulldog! Totally different breed. These are not the short squatty bulldogs...These dogs are the body builders/powerlifters of the dog world. They are loyal to a fault, excellant with kids and family members......great guard dogs, and always a topic of conversation with strangers to the breed. I have owned them for many years and would have any other breed.

Something different from a dog???

I don't understand your question....do you mean a dog that not everyone has? Like a rare breed?

I agree with Shannon_c. Don't just get a dog for it's looks. Research breeds and see what breed your lifestyle is compatable with.

if you want something different, i would get a bassett hound. they are the most adorable dogs and have a good measure of sass. my bassett hound loves to cuddle up with me but sometimes she just runs around like crazy and plays with my other dogs. she is also the boss even though she is the smallest. their nails grow very fast and you have to clip them every week but i think that is the only letdown, even if it is one.

Get an Australian Shepherd - GREAT dogs, very smart, easily trained and very loyal to their owners. Pretty unique - Most people have Border Collies, but not Aussies (Close, but Aussies don't have tails...).

Go to petfinders.com you are sure to find what you want there. Or go to your local SPCA there are always dogs in need of a good home.
