Seriousley, Don't get me wrong gods and jesus are cool and all but most of us are so wrapped up in religion that we forget ohter people! I dated a crazy religious perosn and guess what? Yeah didn't end well. ***** wouldn't even open a fortune cookie! she thought that they were eviI! Seriousley can we just be moderatley reliogios without it coming tot he point where we can't open a damn cookie? I mean sure we still want to SUGGEST our religion to people but we don't want them totally force them to it. We don't have to guilt trip them into it either. The reason they should want to be a christian isn't because they fear that there going to hell it's because they should want a relationship with god. If they don't thats ok. We should respect them for whatever they want. Thats why people hate us. Isn't christainity about acceptance? and most the christians aren't very accepting. Can't we be more like that instead of what we are right now?

Normally I don't read these long question, but i am glad I did this time! You are absolutely right, Chritianity teaches acceptance and personal growth the last time I checked.
We need to worry more about what we are doing personally and less about what everyone else is doing.
You hit it right on the head!

Christians are often quick to say that Christianity isn't merely a religion - it's about faith! It's about having a loving, living relationship with God! That's what makes them different! Wait, I consider myself to have one of those, but I don't believe in the Bible - just God. So, they say I'm burning in hell. Oh, guess it's not just about a loving relationship after all!

I think many Christians should start calling themselves Dramallamians instead.

Well some Christians do go to far, but not all of us. I feel as a Christian there is nothing wrong with being the way we are and standing up for whats right. If a person is a devil worshiper or a wiccan they stand up for what they believe. People out right disrespect God. I'm a Christian and i'm going to stand up for my God!!

I completely support what you are saying. I had a long lasting relationship with a nice, kind, Christian man. But then I told him I was agnostic, and he broke up with me. I was once a Christian, but I didn't like how everyone of that religion is unwilling to accept what others believe. I love that you spoke up!

I love where your mindset is and wish more people were like you.

I think people could be more relax and open about things if they just realized that openness and acceptance is key to being a good person, regardless of religious following.

Firstly, all Christians aren't like that and Christianity isn't about accepting people it's about accepting Jesus Christ in you life and living for him. I do agree some people go to the extreme with being religious, but they might not be true Christians. Like I said not ALL Christians are like that, I'm not.. I do try to teach people about Jesus, but in the end I know that I'm saved and I accepted him into my heart.

Most of the fundies aren't very accepting! Your post is music to my ears. Worry not, there are other denominations out there that will happily rip apart a fortune cookie.

Go find 'em!

Sounds like you are intolerant of some of your own peoples beliefs. I believe you were incorrect on a few of your conclusions and heres why...

1. Proverbs 1:7 says the fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom. How can people not love God if they do not respect him? How can they respect him if they dont fear them? The Bible teaches us to fear God and to WARN people of what is going to happen to them, not to coerce. In trying to keep hell a secret, you are merely trying to appease the pride and ego of unbelievers by not warning them of the consequences in order to gain favor with them. Judging by your responses below, I would say you attained that goal! Pretty scary when you have more in common with people that renounce God versus people that accept God eh?

2. People dont hate God because of us, people hate us because they dont want a life with God and they despise the people that have chosen the very life they hate and have rejected. Jesus said if we belong to HIM, they are going to HATE us, period. You are working too hard to gain the acceptance of the world by appeasing it and alientating yourself from believers. Actually what the world despises are people that claimt to be Christian but dont LIVE as though it were the truth.

3. A believer cannot accept the world because the world is EVIL.

Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. -Romans 12:9

We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. -2 Corinthians 10:5

Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. -James 4:4

You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you cannot have a part in both the Lord's table and the table of demons. -1 Corinthians 10:21
