I had one years ago. They are testing to make sure the abnormal cells are not coming back and that you are healing well.

First of all, how is it that you had these tests done and you don't know why? Didn't your doctor tell you what they were doing? You need to be asking the doctor why BEFORE they do it!

Secondly, this is a test of the tissue of your CERVIX, not your vagina. There is a difference.

Okay, that said, the reason for those tests are to check for pre-cancerous or cancerous cells on your cervix. If you have HPV with or without genital warts, that can be a concern. But even if you don't, irregular pap smears mean that the cell sample taken from your cervix did not appear normal. It could be nothing but chances are, your doctor is just being cautious.

Seriously, you need to actually TALK to your doctor and find out. Random people on Yahoo have NO idea why your doctor orders tests.

Regarding your other question: If you have sex, you can get pregnant. Plain and simple. If you're asking this question, I'm assuming you don't use birth control. That's scarey in two ways. First, you seem to NOT want to get pregnant and yet you're not even trying to prevent it. There is no excuse for that. Birth control is very easy to get. (it's just as easy to say NO to sex by the way)
And also, if you're having all these tests done, it's possible that you may have a sexually transmitted disease or infection and you're not protecting the person you're sleeping with from it. Shame on you again.

Given your lack of basic knowledge about your own body, the fact that you have something "going on down there" and the fact that you have no clue about reproduction, you really should not be having sex. Get online or read a book or something.

I have had three colposcopies. They are testing for cancerous cells on the cervix. There will be some cramping and bleeding but it should not affect your period. You will not have to get another test or procedure unless they find cancerous cells, and then they will probably remove them with a procedure that involves freezing the cells and scraping them away. That one is no fun. None of them are.

You can still get pregnant. But that is not something that should be concerning you right now. It's best to be worried about your health

Good question and yes it only applies to if you have had the biopsy. And I was a bad girl and actually used a tampon 4 days after a biopsy, and I didn't die. So I think you will be fine.

If they took a biopsy, you likely had some polyps. As a matter of course, they remove polyps when they do a colonoscopy to save the trouble of going back to do it later. They always do a biopsy on polyps that have been removed to make sure they are cancer free.

Getting a colonoscopy and having polyps removed is the best and easiest way to prevent colon cancer. Polyps are usually benign or a very early warning sign of colon cancer.

You should be fine either way. You did the right thing for your health.

eww. I'm sorry, I know someone who had one the other week, and they had to drink that... stuff. you're going to be really hungry tonight, make yourself something good. they're testing for cancer of the colon, and to make sure that you haven't got any ulcers or tumors or anything not-good inside.
