I think my boyfriend may be developing an eating disorder. At first he just exercised and ate healthy so he could be faster and better at tennis. For tennis, leaner, smaller people are generally better and he's 6'3" with a strong build. But now he's lost over 15 lbs. and his family thinks he's anorexic (they may just be joking.) I wouldn't be very worried but even his best friend asked if I had noticed that he seems to have gotten a lot thinner recently(last month or so.) I know he would never purposely develop a disorder because he hated it when I was anorexic but I really love him and would never want him to go through anything like that and I am worried. Should I be? Any ideas as to what I should do would be great.

Serious answers only, please.

I don't really think he's anorexic just iI'm afraid he's taking it overboard. He seemed obsessed with being healthy and faster. He was a little chubby before, and now he's perfect in my opinion. I'm just afriad he won't stop or know when to.

For the jerk I'm not overweight and no longer anorexic, thanks to him.

While much less common and much less publicized, eating disorders in men do occur. According to about.com, a University of Toronto study estimates "that one in every six people diagnosed with anorexia nervosa is male."

As for what steps you should take, I would suggest seeking the advice of a qualified health care provider. Describe the symptoms as well as your concerns, and ask for his or her advice on how to address the issue. It may turn out that your boyfriend is simply losing weight and doesn't suffer from an eating disorder. But, as they say, better safe than sorry.

When your thin, its hard to lose weight. Its a likely possibility. I'd be slightly surprised, since he knew you had the problem, but maybe he feels its a last shot desperate solution. He's probably going to be very defensive about it and refuse to talk about it, but you should do whatever you can to get through to him. That can be very dangerous, and he seems like he needs help. Thin people just don't drop off 15 lbs.

Good luck.

Unless he was overweight when he started this diet. Yes you should worry, you probably gave him the idea, sounds like you two are not good for one another. Dump him and move on.
