If you want to ask this guy out and take the chance then go for it! However, you might want to consider if asking him is such a good idea. The only reason I write that is because in your question you wrote that he doesn't like you right now, so you think. It sounds like you two enjoy flirting with each other and hanging out with one another. Maybe you could try exploring a friendship with him and being open to other possibilities with other guys. And, the right person likes someone regardless of their physical type. If he's a catch he won't care if you are slightly thicker than some other girls. You know when people ask you what your type is and then you meet someone that you really like but they don't fit that profile? Well, hopefully that is the case with your ex-boyfriend. If he really likes you then he won't care if you don't fit his exact type for ultra thin or skinny girls.

If you really do want to go forward and take the chance then I suggest being honest. Just say something like, "I've been thinking about you and I for sometime now and I think that we would really make a good couple. I know it didn't work out last time but I think it could now. What do you think?"

As for the confidence that is something that you have to get from yourself. I and everyone else could write how wonderful you probably are but we don't know you. You know how great you are and what a wonderful catch you would be for this guy. You have to believe that and believe in yourself and what a great match you two would be for each other. For what it's worth just because you are not ultra thin or skinny does not mean you aren't beautiful. You can meet a skinny girl that looks like she is a knock out and then you get to know her and her personality diminishes her appearance. Pretty is as pretty does.

well if he isn't that into you and you can admit that he isn't in to your body type, and you two broke up because it didnt work out, then my curiousity is, why do you think it will work out right now? guys flirt all the time and it doesnt mean anything at all. if that is the only basis for your decision, then i would say just keep waiting and either the opportunity will present itself, or someone else will come along that WILL be into your body type, because they are more concerned about you.

There are reasons why we have 'ex' friends.

Have your reasons changed, or are they the same?

Think about it before you ask.
