My cousin missed two other appearances years ago, just paid a fine at the time and nothing has ever happened to him like a warrants etc. He's also had another citation recently and encountered a police officer for identification and there was no warrant or arrest...just a notification of a fine in the mail, that he has to pay in 2 months.
Can you get an extension for the date that the payment of the fine is due?? Who do you contact?

Okay...I THOUGHT you'd have to contact the clerk of courts for an extension. Thanks! My cousin also lost the mailed portion of the amount of his fine and due date. Does he still have to contact the Clerk of Courts? Can he do this by emailing them?

Do the courts give you a grace period...like and extra 25 days after the due date for the fine to be paid?

To obtain an extension for a court date or fine payment...you need to contact the court from which the payment order was made. Normally this is the Court Clerks Office.

Best wishes!

In NJ if you fail to appear in court a warrant for your arrest will be issued. Also, once your case has been finalized you must pay within 30 days. Failure to do so will result in a warrant for your arrest.

A warrant is issued, and next time you get pulled over- you're going to jail

You get a visit from the Dog, yo.

How do you "forget a court appearance". Come on. Be grown up.

You would have to go in front of the judge and plead your case, and he could give you a break and extend the time for you to pay the fine.
Your welcome.
