Here are a few old traditions you might want to hink about:

When the ceremony is over, jump a broom, holding hands. The "Jumping the Broom" is a ceremony in which the bride and groom, either at the ceremony or at the reception, signify their entrance into a new life and their creation of a new family by symbolically "sweeping away" their former single lives, former problems and concerns, and jumping over the broom to enter upon a new adventure as wife and husband.

during the first 4 weeks of your marriage, drink mead at dinner (or have a small glass after dinner) every evening (mead is honey-wine...and "honeymoon" means a lunar month of mead-drinking).

"Something Old" symbolizes the connection the bride will maintain to her family and the past. Many brides abide by this tradition by choosing to wear an heirloom piece of family jewelry or the wedding gown belonging to a grand mother or mother.

"Something New" connotes good fortune and success in the bride's new life. The wedding dress is most often the chosen new item.

"Something Borrowed" serves to remind the bride that friends and family will be there for her whenever she may need their support or assistance. The borrowed object can be most anything of her choosing, such as an antique handkerchief, an item of jewelry or a handbag.

"Something Blue" denotes faithfulness and loyalty. The symbolism dates back to biblical times when blue represented purity and constancy. Brides often choose to wear a blue garter to keep with this tradition, or, blue ribbons in their hair to symbolize fidelity.

"A Silver Sixpence in her Shoe" represents the wishes of loved ones to the bride, in the hope that she will have both financial security and happiness.

At the end of the cermony, have the officiant tie you two together at the waist (or your hands at the wrist) with colorful strips of ribbon - these should be supplied by your friends, who should pick colors that signify marital happiness in their cultural traditions.

You might want to investigate any cultural traditions for your wedding (yours and and your future mate's cultural traditions). My hubby and I had an interfaith marriage, with an Otrthodox Archbishop and Priest, a Wiccan High Priestess, and a Native American shaman officiating, and we incorporated Hindu and Muslim traditions and readings in the ceremony.

Old fashion to what extent? I always liked weddings at quaint inns that are very traditional. There are some that have nice chapels onsite as well. (If in NE US, the Wayside Inn in Sudbury is AWESOME.) Then there is the possibility of a carriage ride for the bride and groom to leave by, if you want to go really old fashion.
