Sounds like hell is full of meth addicts, (man those people gnash their teeth a lot) living on lake Erie in the late 80's.
Is it the best they could have come up with?
I think they could have done better.

Well since you can only gnash your teeth so long before you grind them down to the nerve endings AND a body of water on fire and never being consumed is not a natural occurence; I guess THEY had a pretty good description of what hell would be like.
If you think you can withstand the pain of being cast into a lake of fire never being consumed, you might do something like gnashing your teeth. Either way, we all make it to where we are supposed to. You seem like you will make it there with a first class ticket and gasoline drawers on. Flame on, flame on!!!!!!!!!

Would an extremely graphic description have been better??? Quite honestly, people who have made the decision not to believe really don't care about the description of hell.. and that is their option. Those who have chosen to believe are quite content with the descriptions since it depicts a level of pain and suffering we will never know.

Stop reading the KJV and procure a more modern translation.
They are just terms to indicate the negative side.

They are a poor respresentations of the pain and suffering one will encounter if they don't make it to heaven. However, with man's limited intellect, these are the best that they have come up with.

sounds like you were reading the KJV.
great torment and unbearable burning could be used.

eternal death is hard to translate I imagine. Back then, it would have made a lot of sense.
