For that particular phrase, there's not a different way to say it with a female or male. It's only formal or informal. Granted, there are a few things you say differently with a female friend than a male friend, but "Hello, How are you?" isn't one of them.

"Hallo, wie Geht's?" is pretty standard. You don't really need to be formal with friends.

I think Breezer was trying to say that "wie geht's" is a way that Germans would say "What's up?" to each other.

Hallo, Wie Gehts es Ihnen although Wie Gehts is the informal form of it. It depends on how close you two are.

I live in Bavaria-southern Germany, and we say, and I do not know how to spell the fírst part-Gruss Gott, wie gehts? The Gruss Gott part means we are with God.

Please someone-help me out with the spelling of what I am trying to say!
