I have a 2006 Jeep Wrangler that is about 6 months old now. The other day I noticed a tiny pinhole in my top at one of the seams, that you can see daylight through. I took it to the dealership and they say that it is a cut and that it wouldn't be covered under warranty.

They suggested that I used some black silicone to "plug" the hole. Does this sound right? And can anyone recommend something that won't further damage the canvas of the top?

You said it was a pin hole so silicone will do just fine. Should be flexible enough even when cold, and if you don't use much won't look bad either. You can also get clear...instead of black. Don't need a lot, just enough to smear across it. If it was much bigger, then I'd say use tape or take it somewhere to fix it. If you do decide to go with some sort of patch, I'd still use silicone to seal it.

"Having the top redone" does not mean the same thing as with a typical convertible. You don't "have it redone", you buy replacement canvas and change it yourself, it's not hard at all. You can typically get a replace-a-top for $300 - $500 depending on which model of jeep you have. For your existing top, if you can find some that material that matches color, you might try using an air mattress repair kit to cover the worst of them. Those automotive vinyl repair kits might work too, you can find them at most auto parts stores. Whatever you to to try to fix it, you'll want to test it on an area of the top that's not visible, to make sure you're not going to damage it worse.

Try using a bike tire patch for it on the inside. It might be alil hard to get it to fit around the seam right but if u work at it u can get it. Keep in mind its not the best looking fix but alot better then the silicone and will flex better when u take to top off.

silicone will work, i think there is stuff made exclusivley to repair canvas auto tops. A local canvas or convertible shop also might be able to help.

I use to bring my tops to the boot store and they would sew a patch inside of it and it would stop the leak! call around maybe a fabric store. the boot store would also repair sattels and other leather products. they did great work with my zippers on my jeep

I would try waterproof Duct Tape or I would try to buy a tarp thats the same color and sew it on and then seal it with waterproof duct tape on the inside and out.
