Hi, I'm a christain and an evolutionist who recently decided to watch part of Hovind's seminars. It stunk! He provided little evidence for his belief and mainly focused on disproving evolution (which he failed to do so). Why do people still believe in creationism if evolution has been proven and has most scientists backing it up with shows, books, and seminars? Maybe these creation scientitsts should spend more time proving their theory then trying to disprove evolution. Honestly I'd like to know why there are still creationists.

They have a bad theology. In their minds if we we're not created by God in accordance with the Bible then:

- God doesn't exist
- There is no source of morality and thus, there is no morality
- There is no point to anything (I think they should read Sartre - he discusses how to handle that)

So to them it is absolutely crucial that creationism is true. Which is isn't, so they follow Goebels:

"If I repeat a lie often enough it becomes true"

[edit] Attached below is a link to a creationist putting forward the exact "if creationism isn't true then there is no morality" argument and then proceeding to list a whole series of false objections to "evolution" (which to his mind include abiogenesis and the big bang). Note that he quotes Hawking, with approval to establish a beginning of time and space but ignores that Hawking's theory, if accepted, establishes that beginning as a little over 6,000 years!

I would think the two were mutually exclusive terms and apparently you dont keep up with all the latest advances in the sciences and the court cases due to fraud where this alleged evidence to support evolution was proven to be a fraud a hoax a giant con job and the scientists who helped plan this massive scam haven been dealt with legally there is so much evidence to disprove evolution I wonder how people can be so gullible or easily conned by this fantasy and fairy tale so un like you i wonder the opposite perhaps in time when people are more educated they will see the facts for themselves Gorbalizer

The teaching of creation still thrives most likely for economic and political reasons, also there is a strong cultural/mythological devotion that is hard to dispell even with reason and science. People tend to take ancient mythology literally and not metaphorically and it is a huge social problem in the modern world. This is not only retarding our own society but also encourages worldwide conflict. You don't have to search hard in world news today to find examples.

Understand for your self what you believe and do not take another man's word here is what the bible says about wisdom annd wisdom of this world; Proverbs 10:14 Wise men lay up knowledge: but the mouth of the foolish is near destruction.
Proverbs 29:9 If a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, there is no rest.
1 Corinthians 1:25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
1 Corinthians 1:27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
1 Corinthians 3:19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
If you want to believe a lie then God will give you a lie to believe!
2 Thessalonians 2:10And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
12That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Also Satan is the God of worldly wisdom and helps you be deceived by lies;James 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
2 Corinthians 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
Creation is not the issue, believing is more the issue for you. what difference does any of it make if it all lies?

I see Creationists and Christians as two different camps. Creationists are not necessarily Christians. One can have a Creator of all things, and then life Evolved from that.

Even if evolution were proven beyond all doubt, it still doesn't explain where all of the universe came from just the life to life change in organisms.

Sorry, but you are mistaken. Macroevolution and abiogenesis has not been proven. Evolution has no solid proof and is dependent on presumptions and...faith.

I'd look into this list of scientists and see why they believe in creationism due to their work in their respective fields:
