I'm 14 and I have to go for psychiatric testing apparently because of my depression. What exactly do I expect from this testing ?

You'll probably be asked to fill in a short questionnaire that asks questions related to anxiety/depression - for example how well are you eating, sleeping, looking after your appearance, etc. (Not all questionnaires are alike but most will cover subjects like that). It's possible that the psychiatrist could ask you to fill in another questionnaire about your basic preferences in life, but that's less likely.

Then (again almost certainly - I can't be totally sure because different psychiatrists have slightly different approaches) s/he'll talk to you about what your answers mean. The point behind doing this is to see how your scores compare with those of other people - people with and without depression - to give him/her some idea of which aspects of your life are the toughest for you at the moment, and s/he ought to talk to you about the results pretty much as soon as s/he's looked at the questionnaire. In my experience they're not very long - 20 or 30 questions, maximum, and that should help the doctor choose what to talk with you about.

My best wishes to you - I hope that you soon recover and regain your resilience. Take care.

The Psychiatrist will give you a questionnaire asking about your depression. It won't be very long, probably only about 25-30 questions of multiple choice. It'll ask you questions like, how are you eating? how are you sleeping? questions like that. Be sure to answer truthfully.

They ask you a lot of questions. Take blood to see you have any thing wrong internally.
